Uploader Agreement
This Uploader Agreement supplements the Terms of Service and applies to any user who uploads notes to the public NoteMarket marketplace ("Platform"), operated by NoteMarket (Private) Limited. This Agreement does not apply to personal notes uploaded privately to your Study Space — those are only visible to you and have no content restrictions. By uploading to the public marketplace you confirm you have read, understood, and agree to this Agreement.
1. Originality Requirement
You must only upload notes and study materials that are your own original work. This includes:
- Handwritten or typed lecture notes you created yourself
- Study summaries and revision packs you personally authored
- Past paper workings and model answers you wrote
- Diagrams, mind maps, and visual aids you created
You must NOT upload:
- Complete textbooks, commercial study guides, or published workbooks (even if you own a copy)
- Notes written by someone else without their explicit written permission
- Scanned pages from copyrighted books or journals
- Content generated entirely by AI without substantial original contribution from you
- Verbatim CAIE or ZIMSEC past paper questions, mark schemes, chief examiner reports, or official syllabuses — these are copyrighted by Cambridge Assessment International Education and the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council respectively
What is allowed: Your own model answers to past paper questions, your own revision notes that discuss or reference exam topics, and your own summaries of syllabus content — as long as the writing is substantially your own. Discussing or explaining an exam question is not the same as reproducing it verbatim.
2. Exam Board Copyright (CAIE & ZIMSEC)
Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) and the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) hold copyright over their examination materials. Uploading or distributing the following without authorisation is an infringement of their intellectual property rights and is strictly prohibited on this platform:
- Past paper question papers (in whole or in part)
- Official mark schemes and examiner reports
- Verbatim extracts from official CAIE or ZIMSEC syllabuses
- Any other materials published by CAIE or ZIMSEC that are not in the public domain
Violations will result in immediate content removal, account suspension, and may be reported to the relevant exam board. If you receive a copyright notice from CAIE, ZIMSEC, or any other rights holder relating to content you uploaded here, you must notify us immediately at notemarketzw@gmail.com.
3. Content Standards
All uploaded content must:
- Be genuinely useful for academic study
- Be related to legitimate educational subjects
- Be free from hate speech, explicit content, or harassment
- Be free from spam, gibberish, or placeholder content
- Not promote illegal activities
Our AI reviewer checks all uploads before they go live. Human review may also be triggered. We reserve the right to reject or remove any content that does not meet these standards.
4. Licence Grant
By uploading content you grant NoteMarket (Private) Limited a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to:
- Host, store, and display your notes to paying subscribers
- Index and search the content of your notes
- Use note metadata (title, subject, university) in promotional materials
You retain full ownership of your notes. This licence ends if you delete your content or close your account, except where copies have already been accessed by subscribers during an active subscription period.
5. Payout Eligibility
To receive payouts your account must:
- Have a phone number on file for payout processing
- Have accumulated at least $1 in unpaid earnings
- Not be suspended for Terms violations at the time of payout
Payouts are calculated on the 1st of each month and processed by the 5th. Your share is calculated as: (your qualifying views / total platform views) × 40% of monthly subscription revenue. Educator accounts receive a 1.5× multiplier.
A qualifying view requires a subscriber to view your note for a minimum of 30 seconds. Duplicate views from the same user on the same note on the same day do not count.
6. Prohibited Manipulation
The following are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account suspension and forfeiture of all pending earnings:
- Using bots, scripts, or automated tools to generate fake views
- Paying others to view your notes artificially
- Creating multiple accounts to inflate view counts
- Any other attempt to manipulate payout calculations
7. Copyright Disputes
If a third party believes your uploaded content infringes their copyright, they may notify us at notemarketzw@gmail.com. We will investigate and, if warranted, remove the content and notify you. Repeat infringers will be permanently banned.
8. Termination
We may terminate your uploading rights at any time for violations of this Agreement. On termination, your content will be removed from the Platform and any unpaid earnings may be forfeited if the termination is for cause.
9. Taxes
You are responsible for any tax obligations that arise from earnings received through the Platform. We provide records of your earnings through your dashboard. We do not withhold taxes on your behalf.
